The ABB Ability Smart Sensor converts traditional low voltage motors into smart, wirelessly connected devices. It enables you to monitor the health of your motors, optimize efficiency and improve reliability and safety.
The smart sensor gateway automatically collects data from an unlimited amount of configured Smart Sensors and transmits the data to the cloud for processing. It’s intended for use on 3-phase TEFC finned frame motors at a fixed frequency or operating off a VFD.
It monitors many different motor parameters including Vibration, including overall vibration, axial, radial and tangential vibration; motor health including bearing condition and misalignment. It also monitors operating parameters including skin temperature, output power (HP/kW), speed, operating hours and number of starts.
The device is bluetooth enabled and operates with a 3-volt lithium battery with a life of 3 – 5 years
